Biography
Born in America.
Brought up in Essex - I spent two years at Colchester School of Art in the 60's where John Nash taught plant drawing and Edward Bawden printmaking. This was followed by three years at The Central School of Art & Design,London.After several years as an 'in house' designer for various publishers I became freelance and worked on many books with my husband the artist Martin Leman. The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023
I was delighted to have two works selected for The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition
this year. It's the most marvellous experience and such fun - and the best place for sales.
The RA also let the artist know who has bought the work - which is also very nice to
know.
Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Exhibition
My self portrait was selected for this exhibition 2023.
This is the third time I have had a work in the exhibition which is bi-annual.

From April 2017 - April 2023 I was President of the Royal Watercolour Society and the first female President in the history of the Society which was founded in 1804.
I am now allowed to put PPRWS after my name (Past President Royal Watercolour Society)
I am also a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
